| Tonight while reviewing some aikido techniques from both the student handbook and videos I noticed something odd.
Within the handbook I came across the familiar technique kata tori sankyo, which I went to review in video format. To my bafflement I only found kata dori sankyo, which when reviewed appeared to be the same technique.
After a bit of research I came to the conclusion that "dori" and "tori" are interchangeable. So anyone else who finds them confused by this change of wording, they are the same thing. So I believe... if not I'm sure someone will correct me. |

| You've got it right. Tori and dori are interchangeable. In reality, they are the same word.
Since the word itself is Japanese, the pronunciation can justify either spelling equally well.
