There is a rumor that CGI gave the actors the bodies they had in the movie, but that is not true. There are videos of some of the training they went through in an intensive two month program. Definitely check a few of them out!

Training for athletic performance is one of my interests, going back quite a few years. I found this site and the focus of the training group phenomenal. They get right down to it and produce functional strength.

I feel they got very close to the kind of physique that a Spartan warrior probably had. There has been no soldier on the face of the earth trained better or more thoroughly than a Spartan, before or since.

MID files for websites

If you don't know, MID files, or "MIDI" files, are files used to play music through a MIDI-enabled soundcard on the computer and/or a MIDI-enabled instrument. For example, most electronic keyboards (piano kind) today have a MIDI interface, which allows you to plug the device into your PC and use a music-making progam to build music that is played through your MIDI keyboard.

Computer soundcards have a MIDI processor too, which is why you can play these files on most PCs without extra stuff.

So anyway, here it is: the Enso website and MCFM website as they are mathematically converted to MIDI files, based on content. Tons of fun.

This post is taken from an acquaintance of mine from another forum.

My friend Peter teaches English to schoolchildren in Japan. I went to visit him because he was in a martial arts tournament. He trains in Shooto and I train in Bando which are both striking and grappling forms that end in the letter o and sound funny.

I wandered around Tokyo taking photos of weird things and exotic women until I got to see my friend kick ass and then get his ass kicked. Then I got to train with a UFC fighter (Ultimate Fighting Championship) named Keigo Kunihara. He crushed my sternum and beat me unmerciful.

Because I am on my deathbed due to internal injuries, I will tell this story visually with photos.

First thing you'll notice in Japan are the badass crows. They don't even respect the carp. They eat their eyes like candy.

Once I fled the terrifying birds, I ordered food here all by myself without using any English! No American has ever done this before! They were so happy.

There are giant robots in Japan to defend against invasion, but they are old and rusty. This one was at the Ghibli Museum

Here is my friend Peter with his funny Engrish shirt.

He fought in this competition:

This is Kazeta Jin, his instructor, crushing my ribcage.

Peter won his fight by being tall and blinding his opponent with pasty white skin. And kneeing him in the face.

Then this mean guy in the red shorts kicked Peter's spindly legs and twisted his arm off to win the light heavyweight title. Peter got 3rd. Not bad for his first competition.

I wanted to laugh at this shirt but I can only fight 88 people at once, like The Bride, and they had me outnumbered.

The next day we were woken up by little kids wanting to play with the neighborhood giant.

You must be at least this tall to attack the city.

We celebrated his victory and lamented his loss at Northern Lights, a Canadian bar in Niigata.

Nearby there is a western restaurant for Japanese cowboys.

This was a bad move, because the next day I went to Kazeta's gym to train, and had to wrestle Keigo Kunihara, a heavyweight who fought in Ultimate Fighting Championship 55.

I took him down, broke out of his armbar and triangle choke, and then tried to break his knee with my chest. It did not work.

Traditionally when you lose that badly you have to marry the victor.

Here are the guys celebrating my spectacular failure at beating a 255lb pro fighter.

We met with Naomi and Kiku to cheer up.

We went to Harajuku to see the rebellious youths and their terrifying hairstyles!!!

The crows probably never leave her alone.

The white contact lenses are groovy.

We hopped a train to Akihabara, which I call "Times Square squared" because I somehow think that's clever.

From there the girls dragged us to an Amusement Cafe. These are internet cafes with girls dressed in maid outfits. They cater to anime nerds (aka "otaku") but everyone goes there.

They had a no photo policy, so they can charge for tiny polaroids. This is unfortunate, because I can't show you the guy with the Elvis pompadour catching marshmallows on stage- he also had a furry tail- and the guy with stubble in the pink dress. But I assure you they were there. The crowd was mostly average Japanese checking the place out, though we did see an American anime geek, neckbeard and all.

Once I realized that the place wasn't seedy like an American club of this sort would be, I settled down and decorated a cake with a waitress named Sakura.

Sakura was a bit taken by my manly biceps, so I got a free photo.

Okay, maybe it was because the first one was too dark. But I'm going with the bicep story.

We went looking for a laptop for Naomi and a camera for Kiku, but Naomi seemed more interested in modeling.
