Tests on June 22

There will be two senior-level tests on Friday June 22 in Burnsville. Matt will be testing for the rank of ikkyu and Tristan will be testing for the rank of nikyu. Good luck to both of them on these difficult examinations.

Update: Their tests were a success, and they handled themselves with the best of principles, Matt and Tristan are excellent examples of earnest aikido students. Congratulations! (Nice skirt, Tristan)

On Oct 21, Enso dojo will be a guest on the WCCO 4 morning show, running from 10 - 11 AM. We will have Johnson sensei as well as an adult or two along with kids all from class to participate. We hope you will tune in to see us in action!

Enso Open House

Bonifay sensei seminar complete

The seminar with Randy Bonifay sensei has come to a close, and what a great time! Seminars often push knowledge and ability to the edge, and then a little more. Bonifay sensei accomplishes that with his known ability to balance equally the martial and the art. We are eager for the next one!

Mark C passed his rokkyu exam tonight in Burnsville. He practiced hard, and earned his new rank thanks to that effort. Good job!

Bonifay Sensei Seminar

Bonifay sensei will be coming to teach a seminar on the last weekend in April (29-30). Seminar information is available from the front page of both dojos' websites. All Enso students are expected to attend if available.

Test Results

Tristan and Kevin passed their tests tonight, 3/10, and did a fine job demonstrating their capabilities. My thanks to everyone who was able to support them, either away or by visiting, and we look forward to watching these two grow to their full potential! Congratulations!

More Rokkyu Test Results

Tonight, Pete, Carl, Katie, Kelly, and Wendy showed their stuff during their rokkyu exam and each passed the exam. Along with Mike, they all worked hard with extra hours in the dojo to get there, and it really showed tonight and last Friday. They should be proud individually as they take those big steps into becoming a martial artist.

Test Dates Announced

The first rokkyu test of our group, will be held Feb. 3 to test Mike Rexon, due to scheduling issues. All remaining rokkyu tests will be conducted Feb. 10. Tristan's yonkyu test and Kevin's gokkyu test will be held later in Feb., date TBD. We will go out for a snack after both evenings to celebrate the exam (assuming they all pass)!

Batto Do Seminar 1/21

This class has been cancelled. It should be the last of our holiday-related cancellations. Take this day to recover from your holiday activities and come back ready to train on Tuesday.

Enso Holiday Gathering

December 22nd, Thursday, we will have class starting at the regular time, but shortened to make time for a little eating. Students can bring a dish to pass around, and we'll take pictures, etc. Bring chairs for family members so they can watch you get thrown around during class!

Upcoming Tests

Batto Do Available

We will soon be offering Batto Do classes on a regular basis, time/day TBD. The class is open to anyone who registers as a Batto Do student (see site for class and pricing details). For this class, for the short term, you do not need additional equipment, but it will become more necessary as we progress. We will also have monthly seminars, alternating between Hudson and Burnsville.

Saturday December 10, 12:30p - 2:30p, we will be hosting a Batto Do seminar at the Enso dojo. This is the perfect time for new folks to start, as it will focus solely on the seitei kata practiced in the organization.

Bring bokken if you have a favorite, otherwise you may use one of ours. This is an organization event, meaning our Hudson friends will join us. See you there!

No randori - 11/22

Dog Walk Results

The dog walk has ended, and thanks to everyone, was a great success! We raised $550 for the Humane Society! That's just amazing, I can't describe it any other way. Pictures will be coming to the site soon, but Ellefson sensei and I thank you VERY much, and appreciate everything you did to help out. Students should feel very proud of the group they're in, and their fellow classmates.

Coming Soon - Dojo List

I know there's a thousand of these lists floating around, but maybe we can use it to keep track of places we've visited or had visit us. At any rate, a list is coming soon to the Bukou webapge that we can all maintain, including web guests. Watch for it in the coming days.

Enso Dog Walk

The Dog Walk in Burnsville will be on October 23, Sunday, at 1:00 PM, weather permitting. We will start with some time beforehand to allow the pooches to socialize and play.

Please bring a leash, pooper scooper and bags, and water. If you are carrying your dog, please keep him/her on the leash just in case. If the dog has a license tag, bring that too.

The donation/sponsor form is in the Documents section. Please try to get as many people as possible to sponsor your time, even if it is only 1 or 5 bucks.

If you have more than one dog, let Johnson sensei know if s/he is available for those without a pooch for some hot walking action.
