As most know, the video will take well over 200 GB of disk space, which I don't have at the moment. I have a line on getting some external storage for the old DVD. Also, since we had two cameras, I have to import double the footage -- it will be difficult, but not impossible.

RE: Spring Seminar

I just returned from a very unexpected trip far away, and will pipe in on the discussion.

It will probably be predictable to say that I enjoyed the seminar a great deal, and came away with a wealth of things that I can work on. There are so many things that my eyes can now start to see, I frankly don't know exactly where to start. I can merely forge ahead and work on what I can remember.

As per usual for seminars, I came away with three or so pages of notes in my journal. It took a bit of pressure off knowing there will be DVDs on the way but I didn't cut corners - I made the notes of my impressions anyway. After all, those won't be on the DVD - THANKFULLY!

RE: Spring Seminar

And we do NOT stink like cheese.

So there.

Ha.

RE: Spring Seminar

That was Rachel. She's been in our kids class pretty much since it started. (She wears a hakama in kids class) My protege' as you will. She still needs to find her voice. She is pretty awesome though for only being 11.

I"m pretty surprised Tristan hasn't spoken up yet. Usually he has a big chunk of something to say.

RE: Spring Seminar

Faith I totally agree. Bonifay sensei , I think, could kick Chuck Norris's Butt. I thing I was most impressed with was feeling as if the groud disappeared from beneath your feet and you don't know why. Who was the young lady that led warm-ups? Please tell her she did an awesome job! An intimidating situation to be in but she did very well it shows credit not only to her but to her teachers. Of course someone from burnsville would have done better but thats just because we rock and you stink like cheese. I think Mister Big Ki is lucky to have ME. RIGHT honey????

Getting to be an uke for Bonifay Sensei is a very special thing. He will only pick you if he likes you and thinks you are a good uke or aikidoka in general. I have learned many lessons just from being an uke for him. Many painful but good lessons.

I love how it feels when you grab him. An instant sense of forboding. It always feels like you have lost before you have begun. He generates such powerful Ki. I also enjoy his philosophy. I think his emphasis on confidence in you aikido, even fake confidence was a very important lesson that everybody should really take to heart. I know for me if I step on the mat and don't believe in myself or my aikido....everything falls apart. I've had to fake it many times...and you know what? If you fake it often enough, you will begin to really believe.

For those of you whose first time it was meeting Sensei or first seminar: What was your experience/take on the whole thing?

-Faith

RE: Spring Seminar

Thanks Adam! Yes Faith is a lucky girl (quick how do i erase this before she sees it)

This seminar was great. Bonifay Sensei brought us alot of stuff to work. I was impressed with the turn out for the Seminar and glad that some of our Aikido friends showed up to support us. I would like to thank everyone for the support on my test.

Adam- I think with how many times Bonifay Sensei used you as Uke shows what kind of Aikidoka you are. It is a big honor to have him ask you to come up and be his uke. (and also a little painful sometimes)

Cory

Spring Seminar

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a GREAT seminar! We covered alot of stuff that I am sure will have my brain confused for quite a while. Congratulations to Hanson sensei on his Nidan. Faith sure is lucky to be marrying such a stud.

I had the opportunity to be uke for Bonifay sensei for a few techniques. As I was going up for one of these I heard Ellefson Sensei say "enjoy". It didn't dawn on me at the time what he meant but last night while working on a six pack (of beer not my abs) I realized what he was saying. I can't put it into words but those of you that had the opportunity know what I mean. It makes you want to be better. Thats the aikidoka I want to be, and I'm not just talking technique. I may not get all the way there, but with your help, I may get halfway. Thanks again everyone I had a blast!
