I haven't had an exercise bake my noodle like that in some time. I have to say it was really neat!

It reminded me of the first couple classes I came to and everything was new. It was interesting to be robbed of a primary sense and forced to rely only on feel and connection. I felt like a blind, drunk ox in a crowded china shop, but I didn't mind. I haven't been able to shut my head off and stop thinking about how I could have blended better with the different energies I felt since we got off the mat. I mean that literally, we're talking all the way to dreamland here...

So, would it be possible to do that more often? It was rad.

Advanced class

I would like to set up an advanced class (yonkyu and above) in either Hudson or Burnsville on an upcoming Sunday. Let's try to get something together. It's been too long.

Randori change

After some thought, it occurs to me we have had pretty regular attendance at randori class. Tonight, we went over basic tanto randori. But, we've drilled enough of getting off the line, and we've done randori at about 75% speed every week (except once). Starting next week, we will go to full speed. I will go over the rules then that we follow in randori, and I expect everyone to pay attention to them, without question. They are there for safety's sake and the benefit of learning -- if you only learn from violence, you are not capable of learning aikido.

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next randori.

*Phil

Filler Material

Sometimes the opportunity arises where I can do a specific art that people may have an urge to work on. Usually, I come up with something on my own, but if I have knowledge of what others want to try out, I'll work that in too (after all, you do pay for instruction).

So, use this thread here to make suggestions for filler material and I'll do what I can to incorporate your suggestions. Be specific (name the art if you can), and keep it simple -- all classes have a theme, so we'll work 'em in when it's appropriate.

Take care,

*Phil
